Rahul Gandhi calls Hindus violent, but has the Hindu Samaj been violent to be called so?

During the Lok Sabha session on 1st July, Leader of Opposition and Congress scion Rahul Gandhi made a Hinduphobic statement that sent ripples across the country. He said that those who call themselves Hindus “only talk about violence, hatred, and lies.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interrupted Gandhi’s speech, emphasising that labelling the entire Hindu community as violent was a serious accusation. Rahul Gandhi kept emphasising Ahimsa. But are we Hindus, the Hindu Samaj, violent, as claimed by Rahul Gandhi?

Our scriptures teach us that अहिंसा परमो धर्मः तथा अहिंसा परो दमः

Yes, Ahimsa is the biggest virtue. This was also indoctrinated by our “great” “father of the nation”, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, aka “Mahatma” Gandhi; we are still a toothless Hindu population. Remember how Gandhi literally asked us to show the other cheek when slapped on one cheek – here’s what he said, “If Muslims want to kill us (Hindus), we must face death bravely. Hindus should not harbour anger in their hearts against Muslims even if the latter wanted to destroy them. If they established their rule after killing Hindus, we would be ushering in a new world by sacrificing our (Hindu) lives”.

Remember how he condemned acts of bravery and sacrifice by young freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose, Uddham Singh, etc.

Had we Hindus been violent, the Chitpavan Brahmin massacre would have probably never occurred.

Had Hindus been violent, we probably would never have heard of the Moplah-led massacre.

Had Hindus been violent, Kashmiri Pandits would have ruled over Kashmir, and stone pelting would have never been a way of life.

Had Hindus been violent, the Goan Inquisition would have never happened.

Had Hindus been violent, we would not have let the British rule us, nor would we have faced the wrath of the Mughals.

Had Hindus been violent, there would never have been a Babri masjid built atop Ram Lalla Janmasthan or Kashi Vishwanath Mandir.

Day in and day out, it is the cadre from the BJP and the RSS who are being murdered heinously by these so-called proponents of non-violence across the country. BJP cadre are being flogged literally every single day.

Although Ahimsa is paramo dharma, himsa or violence is necessary at times to fight adharma. To restore Dharma, to wipe out adharma, if violence is a means to achieve it, so be it. This thread on X tells us how, ordinarily, one must not resort to violence and that non-violence must be the norm.

However, when it comes to self-protection from aggressors, our shastras do not prescribe non-violence.

Shastras also prescribe that if the Kshatriya/king is unable to protect, Brahmanas, Vaishyas and Shudras should take up arms.

For Kshatriyas, war is part of their Dharma, duty. So, violence is not adharma when it comes to punishing criminals or during the war.

A king’s men are duty-bound to fight for their king, alongside their king, whether or not they believe in non-violence.

In addition to all this, none of our itihasas and Puranas prescribe non-violence towards enemies.

When Arjuna is in a dilemma to go to war against his kith and kin, Bhagwan Krishna helps him understand that to re-establish righteousness, Dharma, one needs to use violence, and it is alright.

Hindu shastras did not advise kings to turn away from war. Shastras do not advocate non-violence at the cost of one’s duty. For Arjuna, at Kurukshetra, it was his duty to fight adharmis.

To call all Hindus violent and that they are resorting to violence and hate is a blatantly Hinduphobic and mischievous act by Rahul Gandhi to keep Hindus self-loathe even more, keep us feeling guilty and divided and ensure Hindus remain passive and do not know even basic self-defence.
