Hindu Dharmic gurus speak up for Bangladeshi Hindus; Unite in call for action to protect them

In light of the escalating violence against Bangladeshi Hindus, Shankaracharyas from the four mathas established by Adi Shankaracharya have issued a series of urgent calls for intervention, support, and solidarity. Their statements reflect a concerted effort to address the crisis and offer assistance to affected communities.

Dwarka Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati called for a bilateral dialogue between Bharat and Bangladesh to address the plight of Hindus. He criticized the longstanding persecution of Hindus in both Pakistan and Bangladesh, stating, “The situation of Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh is not good. What has been happening for the past 50 years is not right. What is their fault? Why are they being selectively killed? Why are their temples being destroyed?” He warned that failure to resolve these issues could lead to a dangerous precedent where Hindus globally face crises without support. Sadanand Saraswati also urged Muslims in Bharat to reflect on the ongoing violence and consider its implications.

Jyotirmath Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati strongly advocated for protective measures for Hindus in Bangladesh. In a recent interview with Republic TV, he urged the government in Bharat to act swiftly, saying, “Hindus must be protected in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh government must not forget that thousands of Bangladeshis live in India. We request the government to provide land and security for them, and we will take care of their food and other requirements and won’t let the burden come on the government.” Avimukteshwarananda emphasized that Bharat should be a refuge for Hindus worldwide, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Kanchi Shankaracharya Shankara Vijayendra Saraswati has been actively engaged in spiritual support, offering special prayers for peace and normalcy in Bangladesh. In his interview with Republic TV, he also highlighted the cultural and historical importance of Hindu temples in the region, including the Dhakeshwari Mandir, a significant shakti-peeth. “We need to restore peace and stability in Bangladesh,” Shankara Vijayendra Saraswati said. “The presence of historic temples and a large Hindu population makes it essential to address the current turmoil.” Kanchi Shankaracharya also narrated how Paramacharya Chandrashekarendra Saraswati Swamigal who was against the partition decided to embark on a fast on Sundays because he was deeply hurt by the distress experienced by the citizens of Bharat.

Sringeri Sharadha Math Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam in a recorded video said Hindu Dharma is considered the best in the world. He said, “Throughout history, Bharat has consistently championed peace and righteousness. In these challenging times, it is crucial that all practitioners of Sanatana Dharma unite. We support all such endeavors. Bharat has never initiated an attack on any other country; if it has engaged in conflict, it has only been in self-defense. We offer our blessings to the Sanatanis who are suffering abroad, praying that they will soon overcome their hardships and lead good lives.”

Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalanand Saraswati expressed grave concerns regarding the violence, suggesting it might be part of a broader geopolitical maneuver. He claimed, “Such violence in Bangladesh is a conspiracy of China. Mosques are being destroyed in China, and Muslims are being expelled from the country. Now, China is using Bangladesh to destabilize India. If Bangladesh fails to understand this, its existence will crumble into dust in the coming days.” Nischalanand Saraswati called for an immediate cessation of violence and emphasized that peace is crucial for the safety of Hindus and the stability of the region.

Together, the statements from the four Shankaracharyas underscore a unified stance on the urgent need for action and solidarity.

Udupi Putthige Mutt Swamiji Shree Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji raised concern about the growing atrocities and hate crimes against Hindus in Bangladesh and all over the world.

Seer of Pejawar Mutt (Udipi) Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swami condemned the ongoing attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh and across the world and appealed for the protection of Hindus.

A few days ago, Sharada Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati led a gathering of Hindu seers in Ahmedabad, emphasizing the importance of Hindu unity in the wake of the violence against religious minorities in Bangladesh. He highlighted the situation as a warning of potential threats if Hindus lose their majority status in Bharat, urging collective action to protect the community.

Muktanand Swami, president of the Bharat Sadhu Samaj, directly appealed to the government in Bharat to simplify visa and immigration processes for persecuted Hindus from Bangladesh. He stressed the need to raise awareness about the atrocities and offered refuge in ashrams and mutts, calling on international organizations to pressure Bangladesh to halt the violence.

Swami Parmatmanand Saraswati, convener of the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha, criticized the silence of international bodies like the United Nations regarding the violence in Bangladesh. He described the situation as genocide and urged the UN and other human rights organizations to take immediate action to address the targeting of Hindus in the region.

When more and more dharmic gurus start speaking up, there is a glimmer of hope that Hindus across the world will unite and stay united against the evil forces that want to bring Hindu downfall.
