In a disturbing incident, a conspiracy to derail a train was uncovered on the Ajmer-Ahmedabad railway route, specifically between Saradhna and Bangar Gram stations in Ajmer district. Based on the reports from OpIndia, large cement blocks, weighing approximately 70 kg each, were strategically placed along the track, spanning about one kilometer. The incident bears unsettling similarities to a recent derailment attempt in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, raising concerns about a coordinated effort to target trains across multiple states.
Initial reports suggest that the blocks were deliberately placed on the railway track to cause a train accident. Fortunately, the blocks broke apart before any serious damage could occur, preventing a potentially catastrophic derailment of a goods train. This quick response may have saved lives and valuable infrastructure.
Employees of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC), Ravi Bundela and Vishwajit Das, immediately lodged an FIR upon discovering the blocks. According to the complaint, they received information about the obstruction at 10:36 p.m. on September 8. Rail authorities were dispatched to the site, where they confirmed that the cement blocks had broken and fallen away from the track. Subsequent patrolling by DFCC and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) ensured that the surrounding area was secure.
This incident has raised alarm, following closely on the heels of the Kanpur case. Both cases appear to be part of a larger pattern, prompting concerns over whether these conspiracies should be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a more comprehensive probe. The recent spate of such incidents underscores the need for heightened security and vigilance on key railway routes across the country, particularly given the potential for mass casualties and economic damage.
Recently, several derailment attempts have been made across Bharat. HinduPost reported multiple such incidents, including the attempted derailment in Kanpur just two days ago. The current incident in Ajmer highlights the possibility of a coordinated nationwide effort to cause a major accident. This growing threat is alarming, and the government must take immediate preventive measures to safeguard the railway network and ensure public safety.
