Three Muslim youths arrested for raping and impregnating an 18-yr-old girl in Belthangady, Mangaluru: K’taka

A gruesome case of gang rape and impregnation of an 18-year-old girl by three Muslim youths has come to light in Belthangady Taluk in Karnataka’s Mangaluru. The three youths raped the girl, and now she is six months pregnant. The case, reported on May 31, led to charges under the gang rape and various sections under the POCSO Act at the Belthangady Police Station.

According to some sources, the three Moodabidri-born Muslim youths raped the girl at different times, causing her to become pregnant. Three youths, Mohammed Iqbal (26) (reported as Muhammed Iksal by some sources), Farooq (19) and a juvenile (18), were arrested on June 1 by the Belthangady Police. Reportedly, now the girl is six months pregnant and has been admitted to hospital.

Two of the Muslim youths above 18 years of age were produced before the Belthangady court that ordered judicial custody of the three accused. The minor body was produced before the Mangalore juvenile court and sent to the Mangalore remand home.

As per the report by Hosa Kannada, the girl was mentally ill and had recently lost her mother. The lecherous Muslim youths reportedly took advantage of the situation of the victim and raped her continuously, leading to her pregnancy. The Belthangady police are investigating the matter.
