Tanzeem and Faizan assault shopkeeper in Bulandshahr; Islamists and Leftists mislabel incident as ‘Mob Lynching’: UP

In Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Bulandshahr, Muslim youths Taneem and Faizan entered a shop and attacked the Hindu shopkeeper and his employees. This led to a fight with nearby shopkeepers who tried to stop them. The incident was given a communal twist by some Islamic and leftist groups who falsely claimed it was a case of mob lynching.

Sachin Gupta, known for spreading misinformation, posted a video of the incident, stating that Tanzeem and Faizan went to Santlal’s shop to replace a carbonate, but he refused. He claimed that when they protested, a crowd assaulted them and that no action was taken against the attackers, while the two brothers were arrested under section 151 (breach of peace) of the CRPC.

Ansar Imran and Rizwan Haider also tried to portray the incident as mob lynching. Imran alleged that a violent mob brutally beat Tanzeem and Faizan, while Haider suggested that Muslims are at risk of being murdered by such mobs. Both accused the police of not taking action against the attackers and instead arresting the brothers.

However, the police clarified that the incident was not mob lynching but an attack by Tanzeem and Faizan on the shopkeeper and his employees. On 30 June, in the Gulaothi area of Bulandshahr, Faizan and Tanzeem, who sell mangoes, went to Rajiv Narang’s store to buy carbide chemicals for ripening their fruit. They started an argument with the store owner, misbehaved with him, and then called two friends who joined them in attacking the shopkeeper and his workers. The nearby shopkeepers intervened and caught Faizan and Tanzeem, leading to a scuffle.

The police arrested Tanzeem and Faizan for disturbing the peace, but were released on bail. The two brothers also filed a case against the shopkeeper, claiming they were beaten without reason. Circle Officer Purnima Singh confirmed that the shopkeeper was attacked first, leading to the retaliation. Cases have been filed against both parties, and the situation is now under control.

The police made it clear that this was not a case of mob lynching but a response to an attack on the shopkeeper. Some groups and journalists are spreading false information about such incidents, as they did when a Maulana died in an accident in Jharkhand’s Koderma. This Hinduphobic cabal aims to paint a picture of ‘intolerant Hindus’ and ‘Muslims not safe’ under Modi.
