Marathi Asmita goes for a toss as MNS & UBT Sena goons strip and assault a Hindu youth for questioning the Thackeray brothers

A Marathi Hindu youth was stripped and brutally thrashed by goons belonging to MNS & UBT Sena only because he dared to question the anti-Hindu stance taken by the Thackeray brothers for securing Muslim votes. The youth was identified as Suraj Shirke by some Social Media (SM) accounts and Milind Shirke by others but his identity couldn’t be individually confirmed. Moreover, no mainstream media has covered this despicable incident.

Marathi Hindu youth assaulted by MNS & UBT Sena goons

A shocking and widely condemned incident of violence unfolded in Maharashtra’s Nalasopara on Thursday (29 January 29 2026) when a local Marathi youth was stripped and brutally assaulted in public by workers belonging to the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Shiv Sena (UBT). According to reports and eyewitness accounts, the confrontation began after the youth posted a video on social media that the goons perceived as insulting toward the Thackeray brothers—Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray.

Following these online posts, a group of party supporters, rather goons, reportedly tracked the youth down to his house in Nalasopara. Eyewitnesses said that the attackers stripped him down to underwear, physically assaulted him, and forced him to issue an apology on camera. The entire episode was recorded and later circulated widely on social media, triggering shock and anger among viewers.

Local police from the Nalasopara police station intervened after the video began going viral. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into both the assault and the circulation of the footage is underway. As of now, no official confirmation of arrests has been made, though police sources indicate that identification of those involved is in progress.

The incident has caused visible tension in the Nalasopara area. Many residents and civil society voices have strongly condemned the act, calling it cowardly and unlawful. There have been growing demands for strict legal action against those responsible, with citizens urging authorities to prevent political workers from taking the law into their own hands.

Legal experts and rights activists argue that such acts of public humiliation and violence represent a dangerous erosion of the rule of law. While disagreements over speech, especially on SM, remain contentious and are acceptable to a certain extent, critics emphasize that no political ideology or regional sentiment can justify mob violence or vigilantism.

As the investigation into the Nalasopara incident continues, the case has once again highlighted the urgent need for accountability, restraint by political organizations, and firm enforcement of the law to ensure that democratic dissent and free expression are not met with fear and brutality.

However, the entire episode brings to the fore another very important point – that of Marathi Asmita. It highlights that these goons who keep talking about ‘Marathi Asmita’ do not care about Marathi Manus in reality. HinduPost examined the video posted by the Marathi youth. All he does is question the Thackeray brothers for badmouthing Hindu Dharma in their new found love for their Muslim vote bank.

Isn’t it true that Uddhav Thackeray called those who chant Jai Sri Ram as ‘Haramkhors’ or Raj Thackeray demeaned Kumbh Mela and Gangaji, who is revered as a mother by Hindus? Admittedly, the youngster has used a couple of cuss words but that is understandable in today’s SM times when youth speak such a tongue. However, none of the cuss words the Marathi youth used demand this kind of goondaism nor are his accusations false.

The Marathi youth’s contention is very much valid that the Thackeray brothers have stooped too low for Muslim votes. He is also right in saying that Hindus won’t tolerate insult of their Dharma that the two brothers are constantly indulging in to draw Muslim votes. Beating up a youth for speaking the truth is not at all acceptable.

History of violence

The Nalasopara assault comes amid a series of similar incidents reported over the past year, particularly involving MNS goons and issues of Marathi pride or perceived political disrespect:

Vikhroli, July 2025: An MNS group assaulted a Marwadi shopkeeper over a WhatsApp status considered offensive to Marathi people.

Kalyan, July 2025: Party members attacked the head of an academic coaching centre over allegations of charging high fees.

Powai, April 2025: A security guard was slapped for not speaking Marathi.

These are just some of the incidents but these goons are crossing all limits of tolerance. The same goons who attack Hindus, both Marathi and non-Marathi, have no guts to as much as question Islamists who not only won’t speak Marathi but also challenge these ‘Marathi Asmita’ proponents to make them speak the language. After all Raj Thackeray had no courage to stop Javed Akhtar from speaking in Hindi and asking the Bollywood lyricist to give his speech in Marathi. Why would their party goons be any different?

It is hoped that the Fadnavis government would initiate strict action to ensure that citizens are kept safe from these lumpen elements because speaking the truth, no matter how harsh it is, cannot and should not invite physical attacks.
