Malappuram dad sentenced to 104 years for raping his minor daughter for seven years

A Malappuram man received a 104-year sentence for raping his minor daughter for seven years. Judge S Resmi of Manjeri Fast-track Special POCSO Court (II) ruled on Friday that the 41-year-old criminal from Areekode must serve the rest of his life in jail. He has also been fined Rs one lakh.

The father was accused of raping his daughter (born in 2006) from the age of 10 to seventeen. The crime used to be committed at the house where he lived with his wife and two children.

The victim was sexually assaulted from the time she was 10 years old until March 2023. In addition, the accused had threatened to hurt her if she told anyone.

Allegedly, Madrassas, too, teach young girls that they can have a mouth but not a tongue. Paedophilia and sexual assault (girls and boys) are on the rise in Muslim-majority Malappuram.

The minor girl went to a hospital in Areekode for treatment, which is how the crime was uncovered. She was referred to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, where it was discovered that she was pregnant. The doctors ordered the pregnancy to be aborted.

Inspector M Abbasali, SI M Kabeer, and Assistant SI K Swayamprabha of the Areekode Police Circle conducted an investigation and filed the charge sheet. A N Manoj, Special Public Prosecutor, represented the prosecution, which provided 24 documents and 22 witnesses.

The perverted man was punished for penetrative sexual assault on children under the age of twelve, and punishment for those who commit sexual assault on children through blood relations (sentences of 25 years each). For sexually assaulting a child under the age of twelve and sexual assault on children through blood relations, he received sentences of 6 years each. For sexually assaulting a child more than once or repeatedly and raping a woman under sixteen years old, the convict got 20 years each. He was also given a punishment for violating the Juvenile Justice Act and the IPC by threatening the survivor.
