LLB student Tanvir Ahmed held for molesting & beating up female classmate at her home, 10 others charged in the case: Noida

On Wednesday (1 November), authorities in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida arrested Tanvir Ahmed, a first-year LLB student, for breaking into a housing society where he and his accomplices reportedly molested and assaulted a female classmate in her home. The incident took place on 30 October in Sector 137 of the housing society, falling under the jurisdiction of the Sector 142 police station. According to the police, an altercation had occurred a day earlier (29 October) between the accused and the victim.

The accused and the victim were students at the same college in Noida. An FIR was registered at a nearby police station based on the victim’s written complaint. On 29 October, Ahmed had engaged in inappropriate behavior with the victim. The following day, he and his associates visited her residence, leading to a confrontation and physical assault. The accused and his accomplices also molested the victim.

Ahmed was arrested and presented before a local court, said Additional DCP (Central Noida) Hridhesh Katheria. Approximately ten individuals, including some unidentified persons, have been charged by the police. Authorities are actively pursuing the remaining individuals involved. According to the police, Ahmed resides in Delhi’s Kalkaji Extension. The FIR filed in this case includes charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. They are Section 354 (Relating to sexual harassment), Sections 147 and 149 (Pertaining to rioting), Section 323 (Involving assault), Section 504 (Concerning provocation for breach of peace), Section 452 (Related to trespassing), and Section 506 (Involving criminal intimidation).
