Kalaburagi, KA: 13-year-old pregnant rape victim dies, Islamist Mirza Sarfaraz arrested

A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Kalaburagi, a 13-year-old girl who had been raped passed away at KBN Hospital in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, on June 28. According to the victim’s mother, over the course of the previous eight months, a gang of five to seven Islamist men visited her home, kidnapped the victim multiple times, and sexually assaulted her.

According to Public TV report, the Islamist perpetrators threatened to kill the victim if she didn’t keep quiet. When she became pregnant, the issue was discovered. The road was blocked by the protestors demanding justice, including the victim’s relatives and Dalit Sena activists, outside the hospital for about an hour. Islamist Mirza Sarfaraz, a 30-year-old Baland Farvez colony inhabitant, is one of the suspects and has been taken into custody by the police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Kanika Sikriwal, stated to the media that the victim was eight months pregnant when she was brought to a private hospital on June 27. She experienced problems in the afternoon of June 28 and died due to multiple organ failure. According to the reports from OpIndia, the patient had breathing difficulties and abdominal pain when she was admitted to the hospital. The news of her pregnancy reached the family during her hospital admission. The victim admitted to being repeatedly raped by Islamist Mirza Sarfaraz when questioned about it. The mother lodged a complaint, which led to the registration of this case.

Under the POCSO Act, a case has been filed in this regard with the Suburban Police Station. The victim’s body was moved to the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences for post-mortem procedures. The national media outlets have kept this incident in the dark, failing to highlight it prominently. The Congress government, which typically supports Scheduled Caste people, remains silent, raising serious questions.

The Siddaramaiah-led Karnataka government is under scrutiny for various issues, including insufficient bus services causing hardship for students, inadequate state security, and allegations of a rise in Islamist crimes. Criticism has intensified following incidents like the Hubballi Neha murder case, which has fueled concerns about escalating crimes against the Hindu community and the perceived creation of an anti-Hindu atmosphere. Indeed, it is evident that the Congress government has failed to effectively maintain law and order, allowing Islamist crimes against Hindus to continue unabated every day.
