In a harrowing ordeal, two individuals were taken into police custody in Garhwa, Jharkhand, on 26th October, Saturday, for deceiving a minor Hindu girl under the guise of friendship before committing sexual assault. According to the reports from Jagran, the accused, identified as Islamist Mohammad Shahrukh from Aurangabad, Bihar, and Islamist Mohammad Tauqeer alias Farhan from Palamu, Jharkhand, have been placed in judicial custody pending further investigation following their arrest.
The case began when the family of the victim filed a complaint at Ranka Police Station. As per the complaint, the young girl, originally from Aurangabad, was staying with relatives in Garhwa while her parents worked out of state in Delhi. Left unsupervised, she pursued her studies at her relatives’ home.
During her matriculation studies in Bihar, the accused Islamist Shahrukh allegedly befriended the girl, posing as Sonu and frequently wearing a sacred thread and red tilak to appear trustworthy. Building rapport over time, he presented himself as a supportive friend and cultivated her trust under false pretenses. Once the minor shifted to Garhwa for further studies, Shahrukh maintained occasional contact, continuing to build her confidence in him.
The incident reportedly unfolded early Saturday morning when the victim was en route to her coaching class. Shahrukh, along with Tauqeer, arrived in an SUV, convincing her to accompany them. They drove toward the forested area along Ranka-Garhwa Road, where the assault allegedly took place.
When the family discovered she had not arrived at her coaching class, they began searching for her and soon located her at the scene, where she was found in distress. Local authorities were informed, and the Ranka police promptly intervened, taking both the victim and the accused into custody. An FIR was registered based on the complaint provided by the family, and the two suspects were placed under judicial custody.
