“A few days ago, a video of a group of people from the Aintham Tamilar Sangam burning an effigy of Lord Rama went viral on social media.

Following immense pressure from BJP Youth Wing Tamil Nadu, the Tiruchirappalli District Police have arrested four individuals for allegedly burning an effigy of the Hindu deity Lord Ram and circulating a video of the act on social media. The arrests were made following the registration of a case under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The incident occurred on September 28 during an event organized by the “Aintham Tamilar Sangam” in Ayanputhur village. According to a police press release, a flex banner featuring an image of Lord Ram was beaten with sandals, set on fire, and the act was filmed. The video, which surfaced on a Facebook page called “Aintham Tamilar” on September 30, showed participants chanting “Praise Ravana” and included contact numbers for the organization…..”
