On the 12th of April, Saturday, the Calcutta High Court ordered to deploy Central Forces in the Murshidabad district to restore the law and order situation.
Justice Soumen Sen ordered to deploy the forces as the BJP leader and the leader of the Opposition, Sri Suvendu Adhikari, filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court highlighting the serious situation in the district, given the violence.
Taking note of the matter, the High Court heard the petition on an emergency basis. Justice Soumen Sen also ordered that local police have to extend all possible help to the Central Forces to restore normalcy in the district.
In the name of protest against the Waqf Amendment Act, massive anti-Hindu violence has been unleashed by Islamists in several parts of the Murshidabad district. The West Bengal Police have allegedly failed to control the armed Islamist mob. In Samserganj’s Jafrabad village, Islamists allegedly murdered a Hindu father and son.
