Bulldozer action on Islamists who created ruckus and stone pelting during Muharram procession: Bareilly, UP

CM Yogi has been regularly taking bulldozer action against rioters and criminals in Uttar Pradesh (UP). Recently, bulldozer action was taken against Islamists who rioted and pelted stones during the Muharram procession.

There was a massive uproar during the Muharram procession on 19 July in UP’s Bareilly, causing tension in the area. Reportedly, Islamists had pelted stones at the local Hindus. During this, a person named Tejpal was beaten up badly and died during treatment. The Bareilly Police have now taken bulldozer action against the two main accused in this case and demolished both houses. Additionally, the police have arrested 35 people in this case so far.

Islamists riot and pelt stones during Muharram procession

The matter came to light from a village named Gausganj of Thana Shahi in Bareilly. The whole dispute began with Islamist encroachment on the land of the village society, which culminated with clashes during Muharram. On 19 July, the day of the Muharram procession, Islamists clashed with Hindus. After this, significant disputes arose between Islamists and Hindus, leading to stone pelting. During the conflict, a young man named Tejpal was injured and later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Reportedly, hundreds of Islamists gathered and attacked the houses of Hindus. The rioters selectively targeted Hindu homes. The Islamist youths entered the houses and forcibly molested and beat up women and girls. They also scuffled with the police, who reached the spot. 24-year-old Tejpal, who was seriously injured during the riots, died during treatment in the medical college on Monday morning.

Hindus demanded bulldozer action against the accused

When the body of the deceased arrived from the hospital, the local villagers refused to cremate it, insisting that the last rites would not be performed until bulldozer action was taken against the accused. In response to the villagers’ protest, the police brought a bulldozer to the scene and demolished the houses of the accused Islamists. Before this, the administration had marked the illegally constructed houses with red marks and ordered them to be vacated.

Regarding the incident, SP (South) Manush Pareek said two cases were registered in Bareilly’s Gausganj village. When the accused in this case was investigated, it was found that they had encroached upon the land of the village society. Subsequently, the administration has taken action against the Islamists by demolishing their house.

Deceased Tejpal’s sister said that when she reached the spot to save her brother, the Islamist rioters beat her, too. When the police reached the spot after hearing the news of the attack, the rioters also scuffled with the police. Following the scuffle, the police arrested about a dozen rioters. After marking the homes of the rioters, the police carried out bulldozer action to send a strong message to the rioters.
