“Assam: Police seize Rs 66 crore worth of Yaba tablets in major anti-drug operation; Khairul, Nabir Hussain arrested”, Organiser, June 14, 2024:
“In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam police have seized a massive consignment of banned drugs valued at approximately Rs 66 crore. The operation, conducted in the Lamajuar area of Karimganj, resulted in the apprehension of three individuals in possession of 2,20,000 Yaba tablets.
The operation unfolded that huge consignment of drug smuggling continues through the open border of Myanmar via states like Mizoram and Manipur. It is not the first instance of narcotics smuggling from Myanmar via Mizoram being seized in Assam. In recent times, security forces have seized many large consignments of drugs smuggled from Myanmar to other parts of India and, on a few occasions, to Bangladesh via Mizoram.
Acting on secret inputs, Cachar police launched a special operation along the inter-state border. The consignment, brought from a neighbouring state, was intercepted during the operation led by IGP STF Partha Sarthi Mahanta and Karimganj Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das……”
