A troubling case of rape and threats has emerged in Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Ghaziabad. Shah Alam trapped a married Hindu woman who was already a mother and having issues with her husband. Shah Alam initially told the woman his name was Sahil and began a relationship with her. Over the next 7-8 years, he raped and molested her under the promise of marriage.
The accused had assured the woman he would convert to Hindu Dharma and marry her. However, when she recently pressed him to fulfil his promise, he became angry, threatened her, and refused to leave Islam. He also threatened to kill her if she reported him to the police.
The woman finally complained to the Modinagar police on 24 June 2024. The police have registered an FIR against Shah Alam under sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offences), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Shah Alam has been taken into custody, and an investigation is ongoing.
In her statement to the police, the woman explained how Shah Alam, son of Hasam Ali from the Modinagar area, had initially met her and promised marriage. He falsely presented himself as a Hindu Brahmin named Sahil. During their relationship, he not only raped her multiple times but also had unnatural sex with her. When she demanded him to marry her, he threatened her and refused to convert to Hindu Dharma.
The victim shared her story with the media, detailing Shah Alam’s deception and threats. She recounted how he revealed his true identity and threatened her life, demanding that she convert to Islam if she wanted to marry him.
