POCSO Cases: The Attack on Isha Foundation and the War Against Dharma

We all know how the left lobby works overtime to malign the Hindu way of life. In Tamil Nadu especially, this happens with a vigor rarely seen in other Indian states. Not very long ago, the current Deputy Chief Minister spoke about eradicating Sanatana Dharma, equating Hinduism with diseases like dengue and malaria. Just three weeks ago, senior DMK leader A. Raja urged party cadres to remove Hindu symbols such as the tilak, pottu, and holy ash while wearing DMK dhotis, stating that this would help differentiate them from “Sanghis.”

It’s not just the DMK—liberals across the country target Dharma whenever they get an opportunity. Hindu gurus and organizations working to revive Sanatana Dharma among the masses are frequently targeted by this lobby. For quite some time now, the Isha Foundation has been at the receiving end of relentless propaganda and targeted attacks.

Yesterday, India Today published a news article about POCSO cases being registered against four Isha staff members. Please read the report at the below link:

The report states that a woman has alleged that her child was sexually assaulted at the Isha Yoga Center. In connection with this, an FIR has been registered against four staff members of the center.

Shocking, isn’t it? After all, we’re talking about a child—and we should be shocked, shouldn’t we?

Who filed the FIR?

According to the news report, the FIR was filed by a 46-year-old woman from Andhra Pradesh.

What is the allegation?

In her complaint, she has alleged that her minor son was subjected to repeated sexual assault and harassment by a fellow student, in addition to physical abuse and threats. The series of alleged sexual assaults reportedly took place between 2017 and 2019.

The complaint further states that the school management did not take any action against the accused student. It also mentions that the child began showing signs of depression and social withdrawal during the COVID-19 lockdown.

What is the response from the Isha Foundation?

The Isha Home School (IHS) has denied that any sexual assault took place on the Yoga Center premises. In fact, after receiving the complaint in 2019, the school authorities investigated the matter and concluded that it was a case of bullying. Following this, the other student involved was issued a migration certificate.

Who is the complainant?

The complainant is Yamini Ragani. She suddenly gained attention in October 2024 when she appeared at a press conference a day before a high-profile case was scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court. The SC was examining a petition filed by the Isha Foundation challenging a Madras High Court order in an unrelated matter. That order by the Madras HC had led to 150 police personnel storming the Isha Yoga Center and questioning residents, including the Brahmacharis. It is said that the police even entered spaces considered sacred and maintained with utmost sanctity by the Brahmacharis. Despite the intrusive nature of the operation, the Isha Foundation fully cooperated with the authorities.

At the press conference—conveniently held just a day before the SC hearing—Yamini made serious allegations against the Isha Yoga Center. The timing raised quite a few eyebrows, as it appeared clearly intended to influence the outcome of the hearing.

The secular and liberal media had a field day highlighting her statements. And why wouldn’t they? After all, it’s a matter involving a young child, right? And more importantly for them, it offered yet another opportunity to attack a prominent Hindu organization.

Behind the Allegations: Details That Deserve Scrutiny

There are a few other interesting questions that demand answers:

Three months after the alleged “sexual assault” of her elder son, Yamini applied for admission for her younger, 7-year-old son at the Isha Home School. Why would she do this if she already believed the school was unsafe for her child? Would any mother knowingly put her child in danger?

In addition to this, Yamini herself volunteered at the Isha Home School from June 2022 to March 2024. Why would she offer her services to a school where her child was allegedly “sexually assaulted”?

After leaving the school, her elder son wrote a positive testimonial, which was published on the school’s website. In fact, he even returned as a volunteer. The complaint alleges that the child showed signs of depression and withdrawal during the COVID lockdown. But think about this: Why would the child write a glowing testimonial about his experience if he was depressed because of what he allegedly went through at the school? Why would he volunteer there if he was showing signs of withdrawal, as is being claimed?
Doesn’t it appear that something is amiss here?

In March 2024, Yamini’s services were terminated after the school received complaints about her conduct from students, parents, and teachers. Yamini was clearly upset about this and had been plotting her move against the Yoga Center, ever since and she made her first move in October 2024 as I mentioned above.

A few days after her press conference, Yamini’s brother, Pravin Rajkumar Kodi, released a public statement distancing himself from her and her husband, Satya Narendra. In his statement, he said that his brother-in-law was involved in extorting relatives and friends. He also suggested that both his sister and brother-in-law may be suffering from mental health issues, and expressed suspicion that the complaint against Isha was filed with an ulterior motive—to unlawfully extract gains from the Isha Foundation.

Here’s the link to his post:

Shortly after Yamini’s press conference maligning the foundation, a group of Isha Home School parents held a separate press conference. In it, they refuted her claims and reaffirmed that IHS remains one of the safest and most supportive environments for children. This is a short snippet from that press conference

The Malicious Agenda: How Forces Inimical to Dharma Operate

By filing a fabricated case like this, the complainant and the police are not just maligning the organization; they are also bringing immense disrepute to every single child who graduated from the school.

In today’s world, people are drawn to sensational news reports. Therefore, the filing of POCSO charges against Isha staff is bound to grab attention, especially from those who have been waiting for a chance like this.

But let me ask you this: Once this turns out to be fabricated and the judiciary dismisses the false charges, what can be done about the goodwill lost by the foundation? What can be done about the humiliation suffered by the students—both current and graduates? I suppose nothing can be done. And this, precisely, seems to be the agenda of those behind it. This is how forces inimical to Dharma operate.
