Kamal Ashraf posed as Sumith Kumar trapped a minor Hindu girl in love jihad, financial scams, and sexual assault

A horrifying case of fraud, coercion, and religious deception has emerged from Bihar, where Kamal Ashraf, a clerk in the state’s education department, is accused of luring a minor Hindu girl into a fake relationship under the false identity of Sumit Kumar, only to exploit her physically, emotionally, and financially.

As per Jagran, Ashraf began manipulating the 16-year-old girl Archana Kumari in 2023, eventually making her pregnant. Posing as a Hindu, he gained her trust and dragged her into a relationship built on lies. Once she was emotionally trapped, the exploitation escalated. Shockingly, he even tried to force her into a physical relationship with one of his colleagues — a betrayal that goes beyond any moral boundary.

But Ashraf’s cruelty didn’t stop there. In September 2023, he used the girl’s name to finance a Hyundai Venue from the Bihar Gramin Bank, Mednichowki branch. A year later, in October 2024, he again used her identity to secure a Mahindra Scorpio through Mahindra Finance. The girl unknowingly became responsible for the monthly EMIs of ₹13,000 and ₹25,600, respectively.

At first, Ashraf managed the EMI payments, but once the girl began working as a BPM (Branch Postmaster), he began withdrawing the EMI amounts directly from her salary. Any shortfall was covered just enough to avoid default — yet both vehicles remained in Ashraf’s possession the entire time.

By early 2025, the girl resisted his manipulation. In retaliation, Ashraf stopped paying the EMIs altogether. In March 2025, her job was terminated. Since then, she has been relentlessly harassed by EMI recovery messages, despite not owning or using either vehicle. Both cars remain with Ashraf. Even after escaping his clutches and returning to her family, the girl is mentally shattered, financially burdened, and still being tormented by a system that failed to protect her.

Archana Kumari, still a minor when she was lured, was taken from Bihar to Asansol. Even after her father’s intervention and a court appearance, Kamal manipulated her into giving statements in his favor. Over the years, he systematically stripped her of her identity, forcing her to perform namaz, eat beef, and accept Islam as a precondition for marriage. Yet, no nikah ever took place. Instead, she was left to raise a child from this prolonged deception.

The abuse escalated into gang rape, religious coercion, and brutal intimidation. Kamal’s friends sexually assaulted Archana, identified as Ibrahim and two others, while facing constant threats and violence. Her repeated pleas to the police were initially dismissed as a mere love affair, further deepening her trauma. It was only after persistent pressure that an FIR was finally registered.

This is not merely a case of personal betrayal — it is a deliberate and heinous crime rooted in grooming, religious identity fraud, sexual exploitation, and financial abuse. The manipulation of a minor girl, coupled with the inaction of authorities, exposes a grave systemic failure.

How were vehicle loans worth lakhs sanctioned in a minor’s name without basic verification? Why has there been no swift legal action against the accused for statutory rape, financial fraud, and religious deception? Even more disturbing, why is the victim being harassed by financial recovery agents for assets she neither owns nor ever received?

This case demands urgent and uncompromising action. FIRs must be registered under relevant IPC sections for coercion, rape, fraud, and violations under the POCSO Act. Additionally, banks and financial institutions involved must be held accountable for their glaring negligence. This is a clear case of Love Jihad, camouflaged in layers of financial and sexual exploitation. If authorities continue to delay, countless other innocent lives could be drawn into similar dangerous traps. The time to act is now.
