Ancient Murti of Bhagwan Brahma found near Unakoti archaeological site in Tripura

“Ancient Statue of Lord Brahma Found Near Unakoti Archaeological Site in Tripura”, North East Today, January 22, 2025:

“A significant archaeological discovery was made in Tripura’s Unakoti district on Tuesday when an ancient stone statue, believed to depict Lord Brahma, was unearthed. The statue was found by laborers working on a road construction project in the Bhuiyapara area, approximately 3 kilometers from the Unakoti archaeological site. Upon its discovery, local villagers began offering prayers to the statue.

Authorities swiftly intervened after the discovery. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kailashashar, Pradip Sarkar, and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Conservator Assistant, Abhishek Kumar, visited the site and took possession of the statue for further examination. The SDM confirmed that the statue appears to be an ancient idol of Lord Brahma.

Currently, the statue is kept at the office of the district magistrate of Unakoti. The Unakoti archaeological site, famous for its rock-cut carvings and statues of Hindu deities from the 7th to 9th centuries, remains a significant heritage site in the region……”
