Mahboob’s persistent harassment led to 14-year-old girl’s tragic suicide: Kalaburagi, KA

A tragic incident was reported in Jevargi town of the Kalaburagi district, where a 14-year-old girl, studying in the 8th standard, allegedly died by suicide after persistent harassment by a 21-year-old Islamist man. As per News Karnataka, the accused, identified as Mahaboob, a resident of Basaveshwara Nagar in Jevargi, was reportedly coercing the girl into accepting his romantic advances.

Following a complaint filed by the girl’s parents, the local police registered a case and promptly arrested the accused on Saturday night. The arrest came after initial investigations pointed to harassment as a significant factor leading to the girl’s death.

Veerashaiva Lingayath Official tweeted on X, stating that in recent times, radical Islamist youths have been targeting girls from Veerashaiva Lingayath, Jain, Hindu, and Buddhist communities with such heinous acts. They further demanded that the Kalaburagi district police immediately arrest the radical youth and ensure he faces strict punishment for his actions.

The incident sparked widespread outrage, with members of the Akhil Bharat Veerashaiva Mahasabha and several community leaders staging a protest at Ankadeshwar Circle in Jevargi. Protesters, in large numbers, blocked the national highway for two hours, demanding stringent action against the accused and a thorough investigation into the matter.

Senior police officials addressed the demonstrators, assuring them that strict legal action would be taken against the accused. Authorities also urged the public to maintain peace and allow the legal process to take its course. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with police scrutinizing all aspects related to the case.

The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government has shown negligible contribution toward the welfare of the Hindu community. From the controversial Waqf Board issues to incidents like the Hubballi murder case and numerous other harassment, love jihad cases that have shocked the nation, the government’s failure to take appropriate action remains evident. Similarly, Bharat has witnessed poor governance in ensuring the safety and security of women, particularly in Karnataka and states like Jharkhand. This lack of effective management and accountability is highly concerning and demands urgent attention.
