A team named MEX Offenders from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna, consisting of exceptional talents Aryaman Amitabh, Harshit Singh, and Mayank Kumar, showcased their remarkable programming skills on a global stage alongside 142 teams from around the world at the 48th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals, held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from September 15-20, 2024.
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is the world’s oldest, largest, and most prestigious competitive programming contest for college students. This global championship, featuring teams of three that advance from the ICPC Regional contests, has attracted an impressive 73,083 participants from 3,524 universities across 103 countries on six continents.
After a rigorous selection processes, 11 teams from India secured the place to compete alongside renowned institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Oxford, and Cambridge.
Participation in the ICPC World Finals is highly valued within the IT community, offering finalists outstanding opportunities to connect with leaders from top global technology companies.
On this occasion, several faculty members from IIT, including department heads and deans, expressed their pride in the students’ achievements. The Director of IIT Patna, Prof. T N Singh, stated, “This is a proud moment for all of us.” He added that the students’ hard work and brilliance have inspired the entire IIT Patna community to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation and excellence.
