Islamists offered Namaz in the middle of the road disrupting traffic, police register suo-motu case: Mangaluru, K’taka

A video has surfaced on social media showing unidentified individuals offering Namaz on a public road in front of a mosque in Mangaluru’s Kankanady on May 24. Based on Daijiworld reports, this act led to significant traffic disruptions, forcing several vehicles to turn around and take alternative routes and causing inconvenience to the public. The incident drew strong opposition from many members of the public and pro-Hindu organizations. In response, the police have registered a case.

In a press release, the police announced that an investigation is currently in progress. “A suo motu case has been filed against unidentified individuals for obstructing the movement of people and traffic. The case, registered under crime number 85/2024, includes sections 341, 283, 143, and IPC section 149 at Mangaluru East police station,” the statement revealed.

Based on News Karnataka reports, Hindu organizations, including the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, filed a complaint at the Kadri police station against those who performed Namaz in the middle of the road. According to Hindu activists, the Namaz was intended to disturb peace and harmony. VHP leader Pradeep Sarippalla told the media that some individuals aim to incite communal riots, and this act of offering Namaz was deliberate. He insisted that strict legal action should be taken against the offenders; otherwise, they would recite the Hanuman Chalisa simultaneously.

In a similar incident that occurred in Delhi in March this year, a video surfaced showing several Islamists offering Namaz on the road in the Indralok area. Police officers in the video asked them to move aside as they blocked the road. The video went viral, leading to the suspension of a Delhi cop who tried to clear the Namazis. Charges were filed against the police officers involved but not against the Islamists who blocked the road.

The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government has failed to maintain peace in Karnataka, leading to increased crime and persecution of Hindus. In several instances, Hindu sentiments have been hurt due to Islamist radical ideology, with the government failing to take necessary actions against the Islamists. As a result, such crimes continue to occur daily.
