Hindu minorities of Bangladesh are facing continuous persecution. A recent such case has been reported from the Gopalganj district.
As per the received information, Utsa Gain is a student of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University. He studies in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He used to stay in a university hostel.
A few days ago, he forwarded an article to the students’ messenger group. An atheist wrote the article.
Soon, his classmates sent the article to other Muslim students at the university. They all alleged that the article was blasphemous, and derogatory remarks were made in the article against Hazrat Muhammad.
On the night of the 26th of May, Muslim students dragged Utsa Gain from his room. They tortured him. Due to the severe torture, Utsa Gain became unconscious.
However, the Police immediately rushed to the campus and recovered the Hindu student. He was admitted to the Gopalganj Sadar Hospital. As his condition was critical, doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. He is undergoing treatment there. As per the latest reports he is still in danger.
Eyewitness said that if the police didn’t reach early, he might be lynched to death.
