“J&K: Police turn to AI face recognition systems for identifying terrorists, downsizing crime rate in valley”, Organiser, May 21, 2024:

“Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have received a significant boost in their fight against terrorism and other criminal activities with the deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This innovative technology is being used to track wanted individuals including terrorists and their Over Ground Workers (OGW) and other criminals.

Marking a step forward in smart policing, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have implemented a cutting-edge AI Based facial recognition system at the Navyug Tunnel Qazigund. This area is strategic in sense that it serves as an entry and exit point for the Kashmir Valley.

The AI system part of a wider police skill development and modernisation is installed in Kulgam District of South Kashmir. This crucial route will now be monitored for individuals involved in criminal activities like absconding terrorists, supporting terrorists, habitual offenders, drug peddlers, over ground workers, and banned members of the banned organisation…..”
