A Hindu minor girl named Shumaila, daughter of Kishan Kumar Odd, a resident of Hub Karachi, was abducted from Karachi and brought to Daharki, which is 580 km away from her home. Shumaila was reportedly converted to Islam by Javeed Ahmed Qadri, a Peer of Bharchundi Sharif Dargah, Daharki district, Ghotki, Sindh, which is a hub of the Islamic Conversion mafia and known for converting minor Hindu girls in Pakistan.

Many young girls are forced to convert to Islam every month against their will by the same Dargha. Hindu girls don’t know anything about Islam; they can’t even recite Kalma’s words properly, and it is said that they willingly accept Islam because they are inspired by it.
Authorities blocked her family’s efforts to demand legal action, reporting delays in responding and potentially aiding those responsible. Shumaila’s family belongs to one of the weaker communities. Her father is fighting for justice for his daughter which seems elusive for Pakistan’s Hindu minorities.
Human rights activists criticized the lack of measures to prevent forced conversions and early marriages and urged the authorities to take stronger action. Similar incidents in the past echoed the concerns this situation raised about forced conversions and early marriage. Shumaila’s disappearance from home and subsequent, religious conversion and later marriage is the modus operandi followed by the Islamic conversion mafia.
