West Bengal: After attack on ED in Sandeshkhali, NIA officials are attacked in Purba Medinipur

A few months after the attack on the ED officials in Sandeshkhali of North 24 Parganas district, another central agency is attacked in the state of West Bengal. 

As per the PTI, unidentified goons attacked NIA officials who were in the state for the investigation. The NIA officials were in the Bhupatinagar area of the Purba Medinipur district to investigate the bomb blast case. 

As per the sources, NIA summoned eight people for interrogation in connection with the Bhupatinagar bomb blast case. But no one appeared. So, a team of NIA officials reached Bhupatinagar. 

Yesterday night, a team of NIA officials reached the Bhupatinagar Police Station. Another team reached the village and detained one person who was involved in the bomb blast case. 

But, when NIA officials were leaving the village in the car, unidentified goons appeared in front of the vehicle. They attacked and vandalised the car injured several NIA officials. Later, the Police recovered them. 

Meanwhile, NIA officials filed a written complaint in the Police station against the unidentified goons. 

In December, 2022, a massive blast rocked the Bhupatinagar area of the Purba Medinipur district. A powerful TMC leader was directly involved in the alleged bomb making factory. Later, the accused TMC leader who was seriously injured in the blast died in hospital of Odisha.

Earlier, on the 5th of January, 2024, ED officials were attacked in Sandeshkhali of North 24 Parganas district. ED officials went there to investigate the ration distribution scam. But Sheikh Shahjahan-backed goons attacked ED officials and jawans of central forces. Several ED officials and jawans were injured.
