West Bengal: The Police foils buffalo smuggling attempt to Assam, arrests two

The West Bengal Police foiled a buffalo smuggling attempt to Assam. The Police also recovered 42 buffaloes from a container vehicle and arrested two persons.

The arrested are identified as Muzaffar and Muhammad Suber. They both are residents of Bihar.

As per the reports, on-duty police personnel were checking vehicles near the Assam-West Bengal border of Tufanganj block of the Coochbehar district.

Upon checking a container vehicle, the Police found that they were carrying 42 buffaloes. The police sought the necessary papers from them. But they couldn’t show any valid documents for carrying the buffaloes.

Later, the police detained both of them. The Police took the buffaloes to a safe shelter.

After primary interrogation, the arrested duo said they collected the buffaloes from Bihar. They were taking them to Assam.

Later today, they were produced before the Tufanganj Sub-divisional Court, and were sentenced to 14 days judicial custody.
