In a shocking incident, a teacher in Bangladesh cut the hair of the girls who went to school without a hijab.
The incident has been reported from the Munshiganj district of Bangladesh.
Runia Sarkar is a teacher at ‘Abdur Rahman School and College’. The school is situated in Sayedpur of the Sirajdikhan Upazila of Munshiganj district. She used to teach Life Science to students in junior classes.
On the 28th of February, Runia Sarkar went to the classroom of Class- VII. She eventually noticed some girls in the class without hijab. Then she summoned them.
The girls alleged that the teacher verbally abused them for not wearing hijab. Then, she took a pair of scissors from her bag and cut the hair of 9 students.
The victim students left the school after that.
Later, the angry parents lodged a complaint to the Upazila administration against the accused teacher. The Upazila administrative officer suspended the accused teacher and formed a committee to investigate the severe issue.
Experts say that this incident is a slap on those who think that hijab is a choice. It’s also an expression of Islamic fundamentalism, which entered into every corner of Bangladesh.
