Based on credible information, the Cachar Police detained a vehicle on the Silchar-Haflong road in the evening of 28 of December. Upon checking, the Police found large amounts of heroin, concealed in soap boxes in a chamber of the car. Subsequently, three persons and the driver of the car were arrested.
Chachar Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, issued a press statement detailing the operation, “Acting on credible intelligence, our team intercepted the vehicle and uncovered what appears to be a significant quantity of heroin. This operation is a testament to our commitment to combating the illegal narcotics trade that poses a serious threat to our communities.”
The arrested persons are identified as Munna Khan(40), Azaur Rahman(29), Asibur Rahman(22) and the driver of the vehicle Bishal Baidya(24).
All four accused are now in the police custody. The Police officials are interrogating them to uncover the full extent of the drug trafficking network.
