Uttar Pradesh Police cracked a multiple state-wide mobile theft gang on Thursday night. Police have arrested two mobile thieves after an intense shootout in Etah, while two others, including the gang leader, were nabbed from nearby areas.
The Firozabad Police have arrested Momin, Monu Abbasi, Bhura, and Sahwan. As per the sources, these mobile phone thieves have stolen around 300 mobiles in the past from Hindu Temples and Fares. They used to wear Kalawa and apply Tilak to hide their religious identity. They used to visit Hindu temples and fares to target innocent people who left their phones unattended or kept them in their pockets.
The gang used to steal mobiles of Hindus and sell them in Ahmedabad. The criminals have confessed to stealing 300 mobiles in a month.
Police sources have stated that Momin was the leader of this gang. He used to hire vehicles and take his gang-members to different places to commit thefts. He used to sell the mobiles to Pramod Nagla in Ahmedabad, who is still absconding.
As per the (SP) Kumar Ranvijay Singh, the police were performing routine checks at the Etah intersection. When the Police tried to stop three bike-borne youths, one of them opened fire on the police and they tried to escape.
However, their bike slipped and the Police were able to nab two thieves, while the third one managed to escape. Police immediately initiated an investigation and nabbed two other thieves.
