The war cry by Zelensky from Davos and his clamour for more steel from America & its allies to fortify Ukraine has borne fruit with 31 more Abram tanks being supplied to Ukraine for use against Russia.

This is in addition to NATO ally & key Russian partner in Nord stream 2, Germany finally agreeing to send 11 leopard tanks to Ukraine and also agreeing for their re – exports to Ukraine by other nations.

The proxy war being waged by NATO against Russia is set to escalate to a new level with no end in sight. Zelensky’s histrionics at Davos and his hobnobbing with the strong and mighty including western media bigwigs has upped the ante in the on-going war.

Instead of brokering a peace deal the Biden administration has chosen to escalate tensions between Russia & Ukraine thereby increasing the prospects of a full blown conflict between the two nations and a possible nuclear conflagration which will be disastrous for humanity.

Looking at the war for the past one year it is clear that Russia does not have the firepower to put Ukraine on the mat particularly when it is being propped up by the US and it’s allies.

Ukraine inspite of the western assistance will find it hard to take back the Donbass let alone Crimea. so the only way for the war to end is if Russia & Putin is satisfied with what it has won & Ukraine is willing to live with what it has lost .

As R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished service professor of political science at the University of Chicago said ” It is hard to imagine Ukraine winning the war and gaining back all it’s lost territory including Crimea”.

According to Hubertus Jahn Professor of the History of Russia and the Caucasus at the University of Cambridge “while I agree that some kind of negotiated settlement will be at the end of the war, the question of territorial concessions is more complicated “.

Biden would like to emerge as a saviour of the Ukrainians in the eyes of the world and the Americans as he heads more than half way into his Presidency. Through a truncated supply of weapons he would like to keep the embers burning and the battlegrounds smoldering in Ukraine.

But one thing he would not want is a full blown conflict between Russia & Ukraine which will blow into his face like Afghanistan should it go out of control.

On the other hand Putin would be relying on the Wagner group headed by his close associate Dmitry Valeryevich Utkin to nibble into the Ukraine territory.
