In Tando Allahyar district of Sindh, a minor Hindu boy named Naresh Kumar Bheel, a student of Class 6, was brutally killed after being raped earlier this month. Naresh’s body was found in a banana field close to Machhi Hotel.
This news spread like wildfire, forcing the to take note. The Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) in Tando Allahyar ordered an investigation and the accused has reportedly been apprehended although his identity was not revealed.
News of another minor Hindu boy being sexually abused had come from Umerkot, Sindh last month. According to sources, the accused, identified as Hasnain Khoso, forcibly raped the boy Sanjay Kumar in the Khosa Mohalla area.
Apart from rape, Hindu boys also face the constant threat of kidnapping for ransom, fake blasphemy charges to settle personal scores or just plain police brutality.
After Pakistan Police arrested two Hindu youths of Maheshwari community on the night of May 2 in Karachi, they allegedly demanded bribes from their relatives to release them. As the family couldn’t pay the bribe, Kamal Maheshwari (18) was killed in an alleged fake encounter by the SHO.
A BBC Urdu report doesn’t mention any bribe being demanded, and states that the boys were returning around 11 PM after collecting some money when they were stopped by a police patrol. Later, the family was told that both Kamal and Anil are in lockup, but when the family reached they found Kamal had been killed. The mobile phones of the two boys had also been switched off by police.
The Maheshwari Hindu community vehemently protested the police’s actions and demanded justice for Kamal’s family. After their protest, the area SSP suspended the accused SHO. A sub-inspector has reportedly been arrested based on CCTV footage.
But knowing how ‘kafirs’ are treated as third-class citizens in Pakistan, it is highly likely that the accused in all these cases will be released sooner or later.
