A Muslim man Yusuf Ali from Bangladesh assumed a fake Hindu identity to lure and marry two Hindu girls. As per a report in the Bangladeshi news site sanatantv.live, Yusuf Ali alias Emon Ghosh kept his identity and religion secret to first cheat and marry a Hindu woman Tapasi Baroi from Oicharmath village in Ratnapur union of Agailjhara upazila of Barisal district, Bangladesh.
His wife found out that he is a Muslim after 8 years of their marriage and filed filed a case against him. Ali was arrested and presented in court on 18 February after which the judge sent him to jail. Yusuf Ali is the son of Kurush Mia of Taralia village under Nabiganj Police station in Habiganj district, Bangladesh.

Agailjhara Police Station OC, Golam Chharwar said that the relationship started eight years ago when Ali and Tapasi talked through phone. Ali kept his identity and religion secret and got married to Tapasi as Emon Ghosh according to Hindu customs. What is more, Ali started living in Tapasi’s parents’ house and had been working as a mason since his marriage.
They have a four-year-old son named Apurba. Ali disappeared after the child was born.
Four years ago, without the knowledge of his first wife Tapasi, Ali again kept his identity and religion a secret and cheated another Hindu woman Brishti Bepari from Taltarmath village, and tied the knot for a second time as Emon Ghosh. Now, he started living with his second wife as a tenant in the house of Supendra Nath Biswas in Satla village. After a long time, Tapasi found out about the matter and informed the police.
The OC also said that SI Saiful Islam arrested Yusuf soon after the case was filed. He was later sent to jail from the court.
Such cases of Muslim men hiding their identity to have relationships with Hindu girls and women – termed Grooming Jihad aka Love Jihad – is a common ploy seen across the sub-continent. These devastating social crimes often have the sanction of Muslim society due to the deeply engrained idea of Islamic supremacism (Bangladeshi Hindus are addressed with the pejorative malaun which means “accursed” or “deprived of God’s Mercy”), and notions of Muslim virility and ‘loose character’ of non-Muslim women as they do not wear hijab or burqa.
Also, Sharia law doesn’t recognize marriage of a Muslim man with a Hindu woman (unless she converts), so this likely further emboldens criminals like Ali into carrying out such fraud ‘marriages’ which they know have no legal sanction.
