Trump’s 50% tarrif’s against Bharat which was prompted mainly by the latter’s refusal to acknowledge Trump’s role in the ceasefire though buying oil from Russia was used as an alibi – even though China is buying more Russian oil than Bharat – has seen the unfolding of a new grouping of nations which have their common adversary in America.
Trump is on a tarrif spree and has imposed exorbitant & whimsical tarrifs across the globe with Brazil and Bharat being singled out for a hefty 50% duty on exports.
As external affairs Minister S.Jaishankar calling out Trump’s hypocrisy said ” We are not the biggest purchasers of Russian oil, that is China and the European Union is the biggest purchaser of Russian L&G.”
Bharat not acknowledging Trump’s role in the ceasefire and his inability and helplessness in making Russia and Ukraine agree on a ceasefire let alone stop the three and a half year conflict even after more than 6 months in office has rattled him for sure. Even the rolling out of a red carpet to Putin in Alaska which put Putin on the centrestage of politics did not help.
Trump’s advisor Peter Navarro has accused Bharat of indirectly funding the Ukraine war and in his latest rant he is inexplicably saying that ‘Brahmins are benefitting at the expense of the indian people.’
These preposterous postures rants and irrational tariffs have all ensured a rejig in the geo political map of the world and a probable emergence of a strong troika which is ready to take on the american hegemony and it’s tantrum throwing President.
As Dave Johnson an American author and analyst put it succinctly that the US President has very little knowledge of worldly matters and his agenda is ego and flattery driven and that he cannot differentiate between a Shia and a Sunni.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and before him the self styled Field marshal Asif Munir have eulogised and sung hymns in Trump’s praise during their visits to the White House with the latter even proposing his name for the nobel peace prize.
Bharat’s refusal to buckle down under US pressure has drawn Trump’s ire and 50% tarrif ‘s which in turn has hastened the unlikely bonding between China & Bharat in Tianjin with Russia acting as a glue to cement ties.
BRICS is fast emerging as an alternate to the western and the US dollar dominance as all nations barring South Africa have been at the receiving end of Trump’s trampling trait where he imposes tarrif’s at the drop of a hat.
The 21 nation strong BRICS community controls 41% of the world’s GDP as compared to 29% of the G-7. It has also notched up 1 trillion dollars in trade volumes.
The SCO nations have a combined trade of 30 trillion dollars. PM Modi’s defined “SCO” as security, connectivity and opportunity emphasizing the main thrust areas in the wake of American bullying.
This emerging new world order headed by 2 superpowers Russia & China and asian giant Bharat will not be without hiccups as Andrew Lathem a US foreign affairs analyst remarked,
“China would like to head this new geo political economic order which will not be to the liking of Bharat and the latter also continues to be a part of the QUAD of which America is also a part.”
Latham said that the SCO summit was a very good for Putin as none of the member countries pressurized him to halt the war in Ukraine and it was very good for Bharat as Modi made Xi sign on a joint communique condemning terrorism and the Pahalgam terror attack.
Hilariousl and ludicrous as it may sound Pakistan was forced to sign this joint statement.
Is the China & Bharat newfound bonhomie a marriage of convenience in the wake of a common adversary America or will it rise above the inherent differences and tide over the intricate border issues to forge an economic partnership along with Russia to take on the US only time will tell.
