Husband kills wife for opposing sale of minor daughter for PKR 1 lakh: ‘Pak’istan

A Muslim man from Sindh province of Pakistan has been arrested for strangling his wife to death after she protested his plan to sell the couple’s underage daughter to a man for ‘marriage’. The accused had already sold two other daughters in the same manner for money.

Zulfiqar Jiskani was arrested for killing his wife, Babli (27) in their house located in the Lucky Shah Saddar area near Sann town of Jamshoro district on Friday, reports Dawn newspaper.

The woman’s brother, Munawwar Jiskani, told the area police that Zulfiqar strangled her to death when she strongly resisted his attempt to hand over the couple’s underage daughter, Humera, to a man for marriage against PKR 100,000 (around INR 40,000). He said Zulfiqar had already sold his two (other) daughters for money.

SHO of the Chhachar police station, Sajid Gambhir, said the suspect was arrested on the complaint of Munawwar Jiskani and an inquiry into the murder was started. The woman’s body was handed over to the heirs after a post-mortem examination.

  1. This human trade is a palpable crime. Additionally, this Muslim man, Zulfiqar Jiskani, has killed his wife Babli who raised voice against selling off their daughter. This is similar to the slave trade practised during 18th Century that caused thousands of Africans sold by Arab Muslims and Europeans.
Pakistan harbors many tribes that are outlaws. So little wonder, why an underage-girl was being sold out. Jiskani has been arrested only to be released on bail days later. Pakistani laws and administration have so many loopholes to deter such crimes.
