Attacks on the Hindu minorities continue in Bangladesh. A fresh case has been reported from the Jessore district of Bangladesh where Islamists attacked a Hindu majority village. Islamists vandalized, looted and set ablaze Hindu houses. Local Hindus alleged that they contacted the Police, but the Police didn’t come in time.
As per the reports, the attack happened on the night of 22nd of May, 2025. Islamists armed with sharp weapons, attacked the Hindu majority village named Dahar Moshiyahati under the Abhaynagar Upazila of Jessore district of Bangladesh. The Islamists vandalized looted and set ablaze Hindu houses. They also looted cows from the cowsheds. Then, the Islamists poured petrols and set ablaze the houses.
Many local Hindus said that to save their lives, they fled and hid in the paddy fields. Due to the attack, thirteen Hindu houses were completed burnt, were turned into ashes. Twenty other houses which belong to the Hindu minorities, were partly damaged. 31 cows were looted. Many cows were partially burnt due to the fire. At least 500 Hindu minorities have become homeless and displaced.
Local Hindus said that the Islamists spread communal hatred against the Hindu minorities regarding the murder of Tarikul Islam, a Muslim leader of nearby village. During the evening of the 22nd of May, some goons chased Tarikul Islam. Tarikul ran and came to the Dahar Moshiyahati village. Goons killed Tarikul in the village and left. But, some Islamists spread misinformation that Hindus murdered Tarikul.
Local Hindus alleged that they contacted the Police Station demanding security. But, the Police didn’t came to the village during the attack. They also alleged that they also contacted fire services to extinguish the fire. But, the fire services came in so late that all the houses were completely damaged in the fire.
