Bangladesh has failed secure its Hindu minority community. This time, a Hindu woman was allegedly raped and murdered in Gopalganj.
The deceased is identified as Smriti Bachar, a resident of Shantipur under Jalirpar Union of Makshudpur Upazila of Gopalganj district.
According to locals, after the death of her husband, some Islamists were targeting her land to grab, led by Muhammad Badal Seikh. A few months ago, Islamists forcefully cut and stole valuable trees. Later, Smriti Bachar filed a police complaint. Based on that complaint, police arrested Muhammad Badal Seikh and sent him to judicial custody.
Locals and her family members alleged that on Sunday, Muhammad Badal Seikh got bail. After that, he threatened her to face dire consequences.
After that, on Monday morning, locals recovered the body of Smriti Bachar from a nearby field. After a primary investigation, police said the woman had been murdered after rape.
Later police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. Also, the police started an investigation on this matter.
