Bangladesh: Hindu Trader Killed in Trishal, Mymensingh; Brutal Murder Sparks Fear Among Minorities

A Hindu rice trader was brutally murdered in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh, raising fresh concerns over the security of minority communities in the country.

The victim, identified as Sushen Chandra Sarkar (62), was attacked inside his shop at the Bogar Bazar intersection in Trishal on Monday night. According to local sources, unidentified assailants entered the shop, hacked him to death with sharp weapons, and fled after pulling down the shop shutter.

The incident occurred late at night, and residents discovered the body later. Police reached the scene soon after receiving information and have launched an investigation into the murder. However, no arrests have been reported so far.

Local people and minority rights activists expressed deep concern over the incident, saying that such killings are creating an atmosphere of fear among Hindu communities in different parts of Bangladesh. They demanded a transparent investigation and strict punishment for those responsible.

This latest killing has once again highlighted the vulnerability of minority groups and the urgent need for ensuring their safety and equal rights in the country.
