A Hindu man, Bablu Chandra Shil, has been missing for over 40 days since his abduction from Phulbari upazila of Kurigram district, Bangladesh. On the night of November 17, Bablu was beaten and kidnapped from a salon shop in the local Newashi market.
After some time, a kidnapper, Bachchu Talukdar, called Bablu’s brother, Krishna Chandra Shil, and informed him that Bablu had been arrested by the Detective Branch police and that a ransom of 50 thousand Takas must be paid to free him.
The main accused in this abduction incident are Bachchu Talukdar, Aminur Rahman, and Sirajul Islam Pathan, with three other unidentified persons allegedly involved. Despite a case being filed by Bablu’s wife, Swapna Rani Shil, on November 25, the local police have been unable to rescue him. The victimised Hindu family is now suffering from insecurity and depression.
Gopal Chandra Shil, Bablu’s father, spoke about the incident and said, “We are still waiting for the police to rescue my son. We are trying our best to find him, but so far our efforts have been in vain. It is a very difficult situation for us, and we are very worried about his safety.”
Local police officials have stated that they are doing their best to locate Bablu Chandra Shil and assure his safe return. They have also stated that they are investigating the case and working on leads to trace the kidnappers.
The family of Bablu Chandra Shil is appealing to the public to come forward with any information that may help in the investigation and to bring Bablu Chandra Shil home safely.
