An annual Kirtan ritual has been foiled by two Muslim youths named Shahin and Nurul Haque at Khajuria village in Bangladesh. A daylong Kirtan (a Hindu religious gathering where devotional songs are sung) was being celebrated on 27th February, when around 8:30 PM local time the accused arrived at the ceremony ground and started mouthing obscenities and threatening the Hindu devotees. As a result, organisers were forced to stop the kirtan.
The village falls in Bagdha union council, Agailjhara sub-district, Barisal District of south-central Bangladesh. While leaving, the Muslim youth threatened that if Hindus would organize such programs further, they (Hindus) would be sent to India.

After learning of the incident, local public representatives reached the spot and requested the organisers to resume the event, but it was not possible. Sub-inspector of Police Mr. Delwar also visited the spot.
There has been panic among people of Hindu community since the incident. Two Dhaka-based online Bengali news portals thenewse.com and eibela.com have reported this incident. However, both English and Bengali mainstream media are silent about it.
Local Hindus including Pulin Gharami, Manindra Biswas, Maharaj Biswas & Haridas Gharami told thenewse.com that their normal lives are being disturbed due to these local hooligans. If they (Hindus) protest their (hooligans’) misdeeds, then more harassment follows. Hindus demanded the intervention of the local authorities & Bangladeshi Government for fair investigation of such incidents.
