NIA charge sheets 14 CPI (Maoist) terrorists for killing two J’khand cops in 2022 attack on former BJP MLA

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday said that they have filed a supplementary charge sheet in a case pertaining to an attack on former BJP MLA Gurucharan Nayak by CPI (Maoist) terrorists at a prize distribution ceremony at Project +2 High School, Jhilrua on January 4 2022, which left two policemen dead.

The former MLA had a narrow escape that day, when around 100 Maoists terrorists (aka Naxals) belonging to the armed squad of terrorist commander Mocchu mixed in the crowd and took positions at strategic places on the ground. Nayak was attacked as he was leaving the function. His bodyguards Shankar Nayak and Thakur Hembrom lost their life – the Maoists slit their throats. A third bodyguard Ramkumar Tudu was injured when he tried to save the others. The terrorists also looted one AK 47 and two Insas rifles from the bodyguards. Police arrived at the spot only two and half hours after the incident.

The charge sheet was filed in a special NIA Court in Ranchi. The case was initially registered at the police station Goilkera in West Singhbhum district and later on the probe was taken over by the NIA.

“Investigations have revealed that the accused persons are members of CPI-Maoist and they participated in meetings in which a conspiracy was hatched to target former MLA Gurucharan Nayak.

“They also participated in the crime which resulted in injury and death of police personnel and looting of arms and ammunition. Investigations also brought out that the accused persons were involved in recruitment of members for the commission of terrorist acts and organised Training Camps for carrying out terrorist activities,” the NIA has said in the charge sheet.

Scourge of Maoist terror

CPI (Maoist) was formed in 2004 after the merger of splinter communist groups (these groups had originally splintered from CPI-Marxist), all sworn to armed struggle to overthrow the Indian State which it believes is run by ‘class enemies’. Its ideological basis is Marxism–Leninism–Maoism.

These Maoist terrorists, also known as Naxalites after the Naxalbari region of West Bengal, have murdered thousands of people, including security forces over the decades. They have several overground supporters, also known as Urban Naxals, in academia, media, bureaucracy and judiciary. Many universities and higher educational institutions such as JNU, TISS, Jadavpur University etc are dominated by these intellectual terrorists who revel in indoctrinating young minds with anti-Hindu and anti-Bharat thoughts.

Many prominent Urban Naxals like Gautam Navlakha, Anand Teltumbde, Catholic priest Stan Swamy, Varavara Rao, Sudha Bharadwaj, Vernon Gonsalves, Arun Ferreira were arrested after investigations into the Bhima-Koregaon violence led to uncovering of a Maoist terror plot to assassinate the PM. Despite the serious nature of the charges against them, most of the accused were later granted bail by our judiciary.
