A major anti-terror operation in Srinagar has exposed a deeply entrenched terror network operating across multiple Bharatiya states, underlining the persistent and evolving threat of cross-border terrorism. Acting on intelligence inputs, security forces dismantled two interconnected Lashkar terrorist modules and arrested five over-ground workers (OGWs), marking a significant breakthrough in ongoing counter-terror efforts.
According to Zee News reports, the investigation revealed alarming details about the scale and coordination of the network. Authorities recovered a substantial cache of arms and explosives, including hand grenades, AK-47 magazines, live ammunition, and communication devices. The presence of propaganda material linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba further confirmed the involvement of Pakistan-backed terror operatives attempting to destabilize the region.
What makes this case particularly concerning is the network’s geographical spread and sophistication. Initial leads traced the module beyond Jammu and Kashmir into states like Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, indicating a wider operational footprint. The breakthrough came after the arrest and interrogation of two foreign terrorists, identified as Abu Huraira and Abu Hamza, whose disclosures led to the exposure of the larger terror ecosystem functioning within Bharat.
Investigators also uncovered the role of local collaborators who acted as logistical and operational support for these terror outfits. Among those detained were individuals embedded within civilian spaces, including a suspect described as a ‘terror doctor,’ highlighting how extremist networks attempt to infiltrate ordinary institutions to evade detection. The recovery of multiple mobile devices points to an organized communication chain facilitating coordination and possible recruitment.
Given the gravity of the case, the probe has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is now expanding the investigation to identify further links, funding channels, and sleeper cells. Officials have indicated that more arrests are likely in the coming days as agencies work to dismantle the network entirely and prevent potential attacks.
This operation stands as a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by organized terrorism and the critical need for vigilance, intelligence coordination, and decisive action. While the success of security forces reflects operational strength, the existence of such networks underscores the urgency of sustained counter-terror measures to safeguard national security and prevent future tragedies.
