5 govt. employees – 2 policemen, 1 teacher, 1 computer operator, 1 nursing orderly – terminated for terror links: J&K

The deep radicalization of Kashmiri Muslims due to Islamist clerics and incessant propaganda by terror ideologues like Syed Ali Shah Geelani (of the “Pakistan se rishta kya…la ilaha- ilallah” infamy) is known to any serious follower of socio-politics, and ordinary people have also learnt a lot about this phenomenon through the movie The Kashmir Files.

After abrogation of Article 370 and imposition of President’s Rule in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir, the region has witnessed an uneasy calm although terrorist incidents are still a frequent occurrence. The deep-rooted poison is now being uncovered and the elaborate financial-religious-administrative terrorist infrastructure is slowly being dismantled.

Today, it was reported that J&K government has terminated 5 of its employees, under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution of India, for terror links with proscribed outfits including Hizbul Mujahideen, Jamaat e Islami and Islamic State and for working as overground workers. These 5 include two police constables, one teacher, one computer operator & one nursing orderly, from different areas like Pulwama, Srinagar, Awantipora, Kulgam and Baramulla.

How such terrorist supporters were drawing salaries from government coffers while conspiring with terrorists working to tear apart the nation, tells us a lot about the dysfunctional secular state that has been created by our Nehruvian elites.

However, mere termination from jobs cannot be considered punishment. What meaningful action our secular state takes against them remains to be seen. A Times of India report provides shocking details on each of the 5 individuals, almost all of whom came under the scanner multiple times in the past 2 decades yet somehow managed to retain their jobs:

“Tawseef Ahmed Mir, a constable with J&K police, was allegedly working for Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and was behind a failed attempt to kill two of his police colleagues, including an SPO and a fellow constable. Tawseef’s father was a terrorist of Al-Jihad outfit and was killed during an encounter in 1997. Tawseef subsequently joined J&K police and over the years became close to several terror commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen.

He is alleged to have provided logistical support to 5 terrorists in Shopian district. After his attempts to kill his police colleagues failed, he began recruiting youths for Hizbul. An FIR under Public Safety Act was filed against Tawseef in Shopian police station. Although he was suspended from the service in July 2017, he was not dismissed. Considering Tawseef a grave threat to the national security, the J&K government on Wednesday decided to terminate him from the service.

Ghulam Hassan Parray, a computer operator from Srinagar, was appointed in J&K government, purportedly with the blessings of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Ghulam, who used the cover of a government employee to carry out his terror agenda, was booked in 2009 by the police for organizing a violent protest in Parimpora.

It is learnt that Ghulam was tasked by the separatist groups to motivate youths to join terror ranks. When Islamic State (IS) tried to create a facade unit in J&K, Ghulam covertly began to spread the propaganda and became the mouthpiece of so-called IS in J&K. It is also learnt that Ghulam had successfully motivated one Mughees Ahmed to join terror ranks. Mughees was later killed in an encounter.

Arshid Ahmad Das, despite being employed as a teacher in Awantipora, was allegedly actively involved in JeI activities..He is learnt to have shared close ties with Hizbul and had a organised a mob for stone pelting on CRPF personnel in Awantipora. Arshid is also learnt to be involved in raising funds for JeI and other terror activities.

Shahid Hussain Rather, a police constable from Baramulla, was initially hired as SPO in 2005. His alleged terror activities were first uncovered in 2009, due to which his services were disengaged. Nevertheless, he was again hired in 2011 as SPO and subsequently got promoted as a constable in 2013. It is learnt that Shahid took advantage of his cover as a police constable and started transporting arms and ammunition for terrorists operating across the Kashmir valley.

Shahid’s terror ties became public in June 2021 when he and two of his associates travelling in a swift car were intercepted in Uri and 10 hand grenades, two Chinese pistols and drugs were recovered from them. He was arrested and subsequent interrogation led to arrest of seven more persons and recovery of large cache of arms and ammunition.

Sharafat Ali Khan, a nursing orderly, was initially appointed as SPO in J&K Police in 1998 and subsequently found his way to health department. Sharafat Khan began working for various terror outfits and even got involved in circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN). It was during the crackdown on an FICN cartel that Sharafat’s name first surfaced. He figures in an FIR filed in police station Kupwara. However, his deep links with terror outfits came to the fore when he was arrested along with police constable Shahid in June 2021 in Baramulla.”
