RSS and its affiliates step in to ease lives during the Wuhan Virus pandemic

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is one of the two organizations Bharatiyas can always count on to be on the field serving the people whenever any calamity strikes, be it earthquakes, floods, pandemics or any other natural or manmade disaster, the Bharatiya Sena being the other one.

Therefore, RSS taking the lead and helping Municipal Corporations in screening activities following the Wuhan Chinese Virus pandemic comes as no surprise. RSS was seen conduction screening of Corona patients in the jhuggi-jhopdies (slum areas) of Pune as well as in Dharavi who’s model has been praised.

While Maharashtra still leads in terms of pandemic patients, Dharavi containing the spread of the virus is certainly praiseworthy considering the pathetic living conditions there. No wonder there is a scramble among different parties to claim the credit for its success. In the melee, however, true heroes and their heroic deeds get drowned.

RSS aids doctors in Pune

When Pune Municipal Corporation asked volunteers to come forward to conduct screenings in hotspot areas of the Wuhan Virus pandemic, RSS was the first to step up to the plate and offer its services. Pune RSS Spokesperson Sunil Khedekar spoke to Aaj Tak and informed them that 900 RSS volunteers were on the field conducting screenings in the slum areas of Pune.

Many RSS volunteers have put their lives under risk and come forward to help the administration. Since May, RSS volunteers have been going door-to-door screening citizens and contacting Wuhan Positive patients every day from 9 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon.

Doctors affiliated with the Sangh have undertaken this risky business. One of the doctor volunteers Dr. Chetan Umape mentioned that at times people do not co-operate or provide the right information even if they are quarantined and then there are those who appreciate their efforts.

Despite such pros and cons, these volunteers have been going around in their PPE kits identifying Wuhan Virus positive patients for the Pune Municipal Corporation. Shri Khedekar informed that besides identifying and testing people, they are cared for as well.

RSS volunteers on the field in Mumbai’s Red Zone

It is not just in Pune but in the hotspots of Mumbai as well where RSS has marked its presence. Volunteers of the organization not just conducted door-to-door awareness and screening campaigns but also provided people with the Ayush Ministry approved homeopathy tablets.

There is absolutely no doubt that the RSS volunteers were on the ground helping BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) but a tussle for credit ensued once the ‘Dharavi model succeeded’. As per a Zee News report 500 RSS volunteers, including doctors, had entered the field in Dharavi to conduct thermal screenings despite the high-risk factor involved.

Credit or no credit RSS can always be seen at the forefront of any calamity offering a helping hand, whether ideological opponents of Sangh on the ground or Hinduphobics on Social Media (SM) acknowledge their contribution or don’t doesn’t matter for these selfless volunteers.

Volunteers of RSS are as varied as doctors, chartered accountants, students, and professors among others. These people are on the ground only with the motive of helping people and contributing to society in whatever way they can.

RSS affiliate Seva Bharti to the rescue of Bunkars

It is not just the RSS that is volunteering to help the administration and Municipal Corporation but its affiliated associations that are helping those hit by the pandemic. The Wuhan Virus pandemic has been particularly harsh economically on the marginalized sections of the society. Recognizing this Seva Bharti, an affiliate of the Sangh Parivar started by the third Sarsanghachalak (head) of the RSS Shri Balasaheb Deoras (Madhukar Dattatray Deoras), has provided a source of income to the weavers (bunkars) of the world-renowned Belgoan Sarees.

With the announcement of the lockdown, about 1 lakhs sarees weaved and ready to be sold were in danger of being wasted away. The families were faced with a financial crunch as the sarees remained in stock. March to June is the peak season when lakhs of sarees are sold as Bharat enters into festive season soon after.

When all hope seemed to be lost Seva Bharti stepped in to help the Bunkar Samaj. Seva Bharti with the help of Belgaum resident Shri Nikhil Ranade created the website “Sevakart” to sell these sarees online and provided the Bunkar Samaj much needed financial help.

Seva Bharti volunteers categorized the Bunkar Samaj families on the basis of the number of sarees produced by each family. They were segregated into three groups as those who made 50-500, 500-1000, and above 1000 sarees. Sarees worth 15 lakhs were then purchased from 370 Bunkar families and taken online. Besides exhibitions were also organized by Seva Bharti in Belgaum following the pandemic safety guidelines.

In view of the success achieved by Seva Bharti in selling the Belgaon sarees, they have now provided artisans of North Karnataka a platform on their websites and put up handicrafts for sale on their website as well.

While on the one hand, we have SM spewing venom against Hindus, on the other we have organizations like RSS and its affiliates who are working on the ground making human lives better.

Whatever be the calamity, RSS and its affiliates have always come forward to serve Bharat Mata even at the cost of their own lives. These are truly selfless warriors who need to be celebrated.
