Kashmiri Samiti Delhi demanded immediate release of Monetary Support to 1522 internally displaced “Migrant” families of Delhi NCR

Kashmiri Samiti Delhi, a Nodal Agency recognized by Govt. of India held a Press Meet today (24th October 2024) at Kashmir Bhawan Amar Colony-1V, New Delhi-110024.

Shri Sumeer Chrungoo, President, Kashmiri Samiti Delhi demanded immediate Release of Monetary Support to 1522 Internally Displaced “Migrant” families of Delhi NCR, braving tremendous financial hardship since April 2024 when the Monetary support is stopped by central and state government of Delhi UT.

We, the Kashmiri Pandit community, express our deep dismay over the continued neglect from both the central and UT governments of Delhi and J&K regarding our ongoing suffering. Despite standing steadfastly with our nation through countless challenges—including relentless violence, forced exodus, and the loss of our cultural heritage—we find ourselves overlooked and forgotten.

We are pained to bring this fact to public notice that the 1522 families which are remnants of 23000 hapless families who had taken refuge in Delhi NCR due to ethnic cleansing and genocide of our community at the hands of Islamic Jihadis and terrorists in Kashmir valley, are facing an immediate survival threat. The threat is grave and has taken one ugly turn due to the insensitive approach of the ruling governments in center and state.

We are denied a hearing by people running the revenue office and the Ministry controlling these. It will be pertinent to note here that in absence of a meaningful policy to address our concerns our community is facing an existential threat. We are slowly withering away in forced exile. The insensitive approach towards our problems is compelling us to celebrate a black
Diwali.

The recent cessation of monthly monetary support to over 1522 refugee families of the year 1990 exodus in the Delhi NCR has plunged many into deep financial distress, undermining our ability to meet basic needs and support our children. This monetary support is not merely a stipend; it is a lifeline that many in our community rely on for survival.

In the absence of a comprehensive rehabilitation and resettlement policy, our community continues to bear the weight of a systematic genocide that has torn apart our lives. We are left in a state of despair, with little hope for reprieve or resurgence.

Our sacrifices have been trivialized, often reduced to political rhetoric during election campaigns, while our pressing needs remain unaddressed. Our educated youth, who have sacrificed so much to pursue their education, now face a grim job market, with opportunities seemingly out of reach. The stagnant monetary support only deepens our plight, leaving families struggling day by day.

We demand immediate action on the following:

  1. Immediate Restoration and Increase of Monetary Support and Relief, withheld since April 2024. Reinstate and enhance the monthly support for 1522 families so that their life is saved.
  2. Implementation of a Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy. Acknowledge and address the historical injustices of our community, paving the way for the reversal of the genocide we have endured.
  3. Employment Package for Our Youth, Create sustainable job opportunities to ensure that our educated young people can thrive and contribute meaningfully to Society.

We call upon the government to move beyond symbolic gestures and take decisive steps to rectify the injustices faced by our community. It is time to address our pain with the seriousness it deserves and to work toward a future where Kashmiri Pandits can live with dignity and hope.
