CoWin is a top class portal for vaccination. Have seen it functioning from both ends: as a person availing vaccination for self and family, and from the perspective of our hospital being a vaccination centre. But some aspects of the portal make it even more special.
The portal has a special provision for people with disabilities. They don’t need to submit any document at all, only enter their unique disability registration number and that’s it. Contrary to popular belief, you can get vaccinated without aadhar.
If your certificate has errors, you can apply online for corrections. If you’re travelling you can add your passport details in your certificate. If you accidentally got two first dose certificates, you can get them merged. And of course you can easily download your certificate.
The WhatsApp service MyGov Corona Helpdesk built into the portal allows you to instantly download all certificates registered on your mobile number, and not just your own.
To ensure that all vaccines are from legitimate sources, a provision is added wherein slots at centers can be activated only once the vaccine manufacturer confirms the supply of vaccines to the center on the portal. Doses are auto calculated based on stock purchased and used.
And lastly, it takes less than half an hour to train a vaccinator on using the portal. Very simple and clean interface, designed to be used with minimum effort. It’s no wonder that 142 countries have expressed interest in using this portal. It is a winner.
