Almost idiotic!
Yes…. that is how I would like to rename the renderings of this mechanism.
And why I call it’ almost ‘, well, there is still a slight original human factor involved …..you see ……you still do press the key on your phone’s keypad…… right!
For that matter …..you could also voice search.
But overall, the picture is quite grim. It’s not the first time that the human race has stooped low…….. copyright and plagiarism are few infamous feathers in its tattered historical cap.
Still nothing really matches the mental degradation offered by AI.
As the intelligence is artificial, the associated human effort automatically lags in originality…… the core of any substantial human achievement that could find a place in the annals of history.
The power to think, that too in unaffected terms….. received a dent in the last decade or so with the oncoming of the mobile and laptop and a huge generation of net savvy, hard- work duckers, shortcut aficionados, who were ready with their veritable home-work sans the sweat of course, much before the stipulated deadline.
But the upcoming horde of AI users will make the previous tech-savvy generation eat a humble pie.
Whether it is official work, student’s homework or professional projects, AI has got it all covered.
For example, earlier a school student would go many extra miles to get his summer project completed…… from visiting libraries to photocopying text and images, writing descriptions, consulting friends, seniors, parents not to mention neighborhood uncles and aunties and then finally use their own creative juices to look, organize and encapsulate all the information at hand.
Those were blessed times when you entire being whether physical, mental or spiritual was completely involved in the process.
Today with the advent of AI ,every human activity is bound to get affected mostly in a negative manner.
Yes! It has and will take away many more jobs…….retrenchment is an after-effect which cannot be overlooked.
AI will definitely create unemployment to a certain level.
What was done by a team of 10 humans can now be accomplished by a single human being and that to within a matter of couple of minutes.
Now….. things are being done at a much quicker pace….. but can we actually and totally negate the very human factor that has brought about this change?
The answer to this question is an emphatic no!
Humans are as important to the process as the AI itself.
Come to think of it….. jobs are created for human beings….. and with a burgeoning population like ours….. AI should be restricted to a certain extent.
Even if you are trained in the ways and methods of AI, nobody can deny the fact that AI will definitely slash jobs.
How many aspects of both professional and non -professional life will come under the influence of AI cannot be said for sure but it’s reach will spread and that is guaranteed.
Ethics would play an important role in determining how much retrenchment should be fair enough.
If convenience was drug- induced, AI sure is the pill to go for.
The faculties of human mind which function best under a little stress would find no takers when AI rules the roost.
This might seriously hamper the thinking ability of a man and still worse, make everyday tasks a humungous chore to complete.
Other related aspect with the advent of AI could be some social problems i.e. related to unemployment, more failures than success, as we have seen AI errors in automation arena like automatic self-driven cars (Tesla) for example, and AI manufacturing machines going berserk and killing people.
Add to it a decrease in mental ability, negative impact on mental -health, procrastination and frustration etc…..all this will amount to a big change in the way people and things operate on the planet.
AI has its benefits and is here to stay even though its use comes at a huge cost at a personal, public and professional level.
Like any other aspect of technology, AI too will have its flipside but ultimately it will boil down to one simple fact ….are we intelligent enough to handle intelligence of the artificial kind?
