In a noteworthy turn of events, the speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly has suspended six BJP MLAs today. Due to this suspension, the MLAs will not be able to take part in the budget discussion this year.
The suspended BJP MLAs are Shubhendu Adhikari, Agnimitra Paul, Bankim Ghosh, Tapasi Mondal, Mihir Goswami and Shankar Ghosh.
However, earlier today, in the legislative assembly, the budget discussion was going on. The BJP MLAs entered the assembly wearing a T-shirt with the caption, ‘We are with Sandeshkhali.’
The BJP MLAs unitedly raised slogans against the ongoing torture of the Hindu women in the Sandeshkhali area of North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The Speaker, Biman Bandopadhyay, repeatedly told the BJP MLAs to keep quiet. As the speaker didn’t allow any discussion on the Sandeshkhali mass rape issue, the BJP MLAs walked out of the assembly.
Soon after the walkout, the Chief whip of the assembly, Nirmal Ghosh, proposed to suspend some BJP MLAs from the whole budget session.
