One of the several peculiarities of Bharat’s secular polity is that naked polarisation of ‘minority’ communities is encouraged by our left-liberal intelligentsia, while anyone who splinters the Hindu identity and fuels divisions across Hindus communities is championed as a ‘true democrat’. The end goal – avoid majoritarian aka nationalist consolidation.
So it is no wonder that an Islamist cleric and AIUDF supremo MP Badruddin Ajmal, who more than anyone else has facilitated large-scale illegal immigration of Bangladeshi Muslims into Bharat, is a champion of the Lutyens’ chattering classes and is feted as the ‘perfume baron’.
Now, his son, also a maulana, has reportedly boasted during an election rally that “This time the govt. of Assam will be of mullahs, topi and lungi.” We wonder what AIUDF’s senior alliance partner Congress has to say to the people of Assam about this brazen threat to wipe out their identity and political presence?

Deoband-educated Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, who also heads the Assam unit of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (JuH, influential body of Sunni Deobandi clerics), is known for losing his temper with journalists and for issuing calls to Muslims in Assam to “unite against Hindus” before the 2016 assembly elections.
In another video, shared below, he can be seen brushing away the mike of a particular TV channel and lashing out at the journalist, and throwing away the gamosa (special cloth valued by all Assamese) someone tries to gift to him on the podium. He can also be seen, for some reason, blowing/spitting into bottles of water held out by Muslim women at the rally!

Ajmal’s party MLAs have surpassed their boss with public threats inciting Muslims to attack Hindus, and making absurd claims like “Ahoms (majority Hindu community of Assam) are foreigners, while Miya Muslims (illegal Bangladeshi Muslims) are indigenous” and “COVID19 used to target Muslims, those in quarantine could be killed”.
This is the kind of ‘leadership’ that secular democracy has thrown up in the last 70 years.
