V. Narayanasamy and Rahul Gandhi lie through their teeth in public

Rahul Gandhi is back with his lies and ignorance, this time for the upcoming Puducherry assembly election campaign. What is more, his party men, no less than a CM himself, follow in his footsteps in lying and being ignorant of public issues. During a recent visit, Rahul Gandhi was taken to meet the fisherfolk community in Puducherry. As he was hearing their grievances, an old lady questioned Gandhi, pointing towards CM Narayanasamy, “He is here now. Did he visit us when the cyclone rampaged our hamlets?”.

Narayanasamy, who was the translator, conveyed the old lady’s question to Rahul as, “During the Nivar cyclone I came and visited the area and gave relief to them. That’s what she said”. In another incident a woman patiently explained what is ‘Thoondil Valaivu’ (groyne) and why they need them. Groynes are built to protect the seashore from erosion due to rough waves, and as explained by the woman they help the fishermen wade through the waves safely in the sea. In Tamil Thoondil means the fishing hook and Valai in Valaivu means net.

Despite the woman explaining it elaborately, Narayanasamy couldn’t understand or identify it for what it is, and translated to Rahul Gandhi that it is ‘some kind of fishing net that has been banned by the Modi government’ even as the crowd tried to correct him. As if the CM of the state lying through his teeth in front of his people was not enough, Rahul Gandhi in another meeting suddenly had an idea and expressed it aloud to the crowd.

He appeared to be very proud of his intelligence and told the fisherfolk that they may wonder why he was talking about farm bills to fishermen but it was because he thinks of them as the ‘farmers of the sea’. He wondered aloud why shouldn’t the farmers of the sea have a ministry at Delhi if the farmers of the land can have one. Even before he could cheer himself up for coming up with such a wonderful thought, the current Fisheries and Animal Husbandry and Dairying minister at the centre, Giriraj Singh reminded him that it’s actually Italy that doesn’t have a ministry for fishermen while Bharat formed one in May, 2019.

All these incidents have gone viral in the social media with many pointing out that if a sitting CM can lie blatantly in front of the public and misinterpret public grievances, what he could do behind the scenes. The fact that Rahul Gandhi, who is a 4-time MP, doesn’t even know what ministries are there in the government also has raised alarms among the public on how someone touted as a future PM could display such rank ignorance.

Incidentally, Puducherry’s Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy resigned earlier today after his Congress-led government collapsed just before facing the floor test in the Assembly.
