TMC activist Bappa Sheikh has been arrested for raping the 6-month pregnant relative of a BJP candidate for the West Bengal Panchayat polls. The BJP candidate’s house was attacked, looted and her 23-year-old pregnant sister-in-law raped by TMC activists in Nadia district early on Sunday after she refused to withdraw her nomination, the New Indian Express reported –

“The accused broke into the house of the BJP candidate at Ghoralia gram panchayat on Sunday morning. Not finding her in the house, the accused allegedly beat up her mother with revolver butt and iron rods and raped her 23-year-old sister-in-law, according to the FIR filed at Santipur police station. The victim was admitted to Santipur sub-divisional hospital and later shifted to a government hospital in Kolkata. Her condition was stated to be critical. One person has been arrested in the case.

“I had to flee from my house after filing nomination as I was being pressurised to withdraw from the contest. They attacked my house, beat up my mother and raped my sister-in-law. I have filed a police complaint, but I am living in fear of my life,” the BJP candidate said. Her mother and the victim’s mother-in-law said: “They took me to the verandah and beat me up. They vandalised the house, looted all the belongings and tortured my daughter-in-law.”

The FIR states that the accused also decamped with gold and cash. District SP Santosh Pandey said a probe was on. The TMC denied involvement in the incident. “As far as I know, this is a case of family feud and has nothing to do with TMC,” local Trinamool MLA Arindam Bhattacharya said.”

According to Hindustan Times, the accused have been booked under sections 448 (house trespass), 376 (rape), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs 50), 379 (punishment for theft), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

One of the five people named in the police complaint lodged by the victim’s family has been arrested – he has been identified as Bappa Sheikh.

The police complaint stated that the incident occurred around 2.10 am, after which the rape victim was taken to the NRS Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The police complaint lodged by the victim’s mother-in-law alleged that the BJP candidate was being threatened by Trinamool Congress workers ever since she filed her nomination. “Following this, she and her husband decided to go away for a while. On the night of April 29, a group of men barged into our residence, ransacked it and trashed our handlooms. Another daughter-in-law who is six months’ pregnant was home at the time. The miscreants kicked her in the stomach before raping her.”

This is how the left-liberal media cabal has downplayed this brutal crime, reducing it to the ‘usual’ TMC-BJP election season jostling.

The Indian Express (journalism of courage?) even twists the headline to make it sound like the BJP is blaming TMC, whereas in fact it is the traumatized elderly mother-in-law & the victim’s family who has blamed TMC for the gory crime.

This is how they normalize sickening levels of political violence in ‘progressive’ states like Bengal and Kerala…such political violence is unheard of in states like Gujarat, MP, Maharashtra, AP etc – there too fierce political rivalries exist, but no one descends to the level of animal brutality seen in Bengal and Kerala. And what is common between Bengal and Kerala? Both are Communist strongholds – just that in Bengal, TMC has displaced CPM by copying their violent tactics & giving an even freer reign to Islamists belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami et al.

This never before seen violence has reduced the upcoming WB Panchayat elections to a joke. TMC has won a record 34% seats ‘uncontested’ in this election – in the last 40 years, there have been only two occasions when the number of uncontested seats crossed 10 per cent — 2003 (11 per cent) and 2013 (10.66 per cent).

Not one media outlet has held Mamata Banerjee accountable for this complete break-down of law & order and murder of democracy in her state. They have also not asked HM Rajnath Singh or PM Modi to speak up on this.

After all, what are a few raped and dead citizens in the pursuit of ‘true secularism’?
